Welcome to Botanical Touch,
“My name is Juliet and I live in the South Island of New Zealand in a beautiful little town called Kaikoura. I use my surrounding as constant inspiration; forest, ocean, mountains and coastal life guide me.
I love everything botanical and this is how I found my way into natural skincare, massage and Ayurveda.
I started out by making a line of herbal based skincare products, while studying herbs. That was a lot of fun. Collecting plant material took me into coastal bush, up mountains and all around my garden.
I then went on to spend time in India to study Ayurveda and discovered massage there. That was it, I was hooked! Healthy habits, lifestyle and diet are the starting points of good health and small changes can have massive impacts on someone’s life towards managing their body and mind better, and therefore everything around them. We are what we eat, and we live our thoughts. Ayurveda has many simple tools that can be used in everyday life to promote self-awareness and health.
From soothing inflammation to promoting a glowing complexion, herbal based skincare has many therapeutic benefits. It can be nourrishing, protective, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial and/or promote cell regeneration. Used more tradtitionnally, it also offers transdermal delivery of vitamins, anti-agents (oxidant, bacterial, fungal… ), acids, essential oils and many other compounds found in plants that are carried out through the skin into the body. Self-massage with oil is one of the main routines of Ayurveda self-care, and I have directly seen the impact it has made in my life, from helping me be more grounded (through the heaviness of oil), to engaging with my body (through the massage) while also healing my skin (through the herbal powers).
Combining my connection to botanical oils with massage seemed evident for me. When I massage, I work hand in hand with plants to bring to the client what is needed. A regular massage routine can do wonders to the body, mind and soul. Massage relieves tension, anxiety, pain and promotes the body’s self-healing ability, which increases immunity response. Overall, the sense and power of touch enables a deeper connection to self and others.
Come and see me anytime,
Juliet (or JuJu)”
